I was going through a study in Hebrews and the teacher described the quote in Hebrews 2 from Psalm 22. I thought it was interesting how the first half of the Psalm depicts Jesus thoughts on the cross; the second half were His thoughts and the results of the cross after His resurrection. Our salvation is dependent on both His death and resurrection. It is through His death our sins are washed away; it is through His resurrection that death and sin are conquered and those of us who trust in the Lord will be forgiven and will live in eternity with Him. Today’s scripture is about Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well. Here, He declares that He is the Messiah. His words and actions declare it. He is the Living Water. Salvation is through Him. Life is through Him. We need Him in our hearts. Continue reading “Living Water”
How does God want us to live? Number 4 in our “We are saved…now what?” series. When we are saved, we are now apart from the world. We are a new creation, we have been set free, God has a plan for us, let us be an example, a testimony to those around us.
- Do not love the world. Overcome the temptations of this world and your flesh.
What are ways we can live that reflect we are a child of God? How are we to live our lives? We have talked about “carrying your cross daily” and reading 1 John to know if we are truly saved. This is one thing 1 John says:
1 John 2:15-17
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
John uses the sins that Adam and Eve were seduced by causing The Fall, separating them from God and cursing all of us. Thanks God He sent His one and only Son to take our sins upon His shoulders and nail them to the cross to redeem us from our sins. How blessed we are to have a loving God and savior to do that for us. Continue reading “The 3 sins of this World”
Our God is an awesome God…He is the Creator of the universe and everything in it. So why do the schools teach that the universe and everything in it happened by chance? Why are we taught that we evolved from other forms of life? Does science disprove the existence of God? Does science contradict the creation? Some of these questions may never be answered. There are some good books and documentaries about this where the authors lay down the evidence. Check out The Case for a Creator and The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel or Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell for good discussions on these issues. So, what does God’s Word say about how the world began and how man came into being? Why should it matter? To me, knowing who God is gives me all the more reason to worship and praise Him and helps me realize how big a God He is. Continue reading “God Created”
