Resurrection Sunday…He has Risen!

Easter time…I call it Resurrection Sunday.  It is not about bunnies and eggs.  That is derived from pagan rituals.  I am not sure why some churches include these things during this time of year, like egg hunts.  Maybe I’m a scrooge, but I want to remember this day as a day of celebration of the sacrifice that Jesus made dying on the cross, taking the sins of the world with Him and putting them to death, being raised on the third day, and lives today to intercede for us.  He is our Light and our Salvation.  By trusting in Him, we have eternal life. Jesus in Psalm 22

Bible2I was going through a study in Hebrews and the teacher described the quote in Hebrews 2 from Psalm 22.  I thought it was interesting how the first half of the Psalm depicts Jesus thoughts on the cross; the second half were His thoughts and the results of the cross after His resurrection.  Our salvation is dependent on both His death and resurrection.  It is through His death our sins are washed away; it is through His resurrection that death and sin are conquered and those of us who trust in the Lord will be forgiven and will live in eternity with Him. Living Water

Today’s scripture is about Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well. Here, He declares that He is the Messiah.  His words and actions declare it.  He is the Living Water.  Salvation is through Him.  Life is through Him.  We need Him in our hearts. Continue reading “Living Water”

Apart from the World

How does God want us to live?  Number 4 in our “We are saved…now what?” series.  When we are saved, we are now apart from the world.  We are a new creation, we have been set free, God has a plan for us, let us be an example, a testimony to those around us.

  • Do not love the world.  Overcome the temptations of this world and your flesh.

The 3 sins of this World

What are ways we can live that reflect we are a child of God? How are we to live our lives? We have talked about “carrying your cross daily” and reading 1 John to know if we are truly saved.  This is one thing 1 John says:

1 John 2:15-17

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

John uses the sins that Adam and Eve were seduced by causing The Fall, separating them from God and cursing all of us.  Thanks God He sent His one and only Son to take our sins upon His shoulders and nail them to the cross to redeem us from our sins.  How blessed we are to have a loving God and savior to do that for us.
