God’s Promise: Unconditional Love

In this series, I hope to remind everyone of God’s promises.  It is something I need to remind myself from time to time.  God always keeps His promises and what He says is always true.  It is something we should always aspire to do.  As Jesus said, “let your yes be yes, and your no, no.”

Today, we will discuss God’s unconditional love.  He tells us that He will always love us.  Our Father demonstrated that by sending His only Son to this earth to die for us.  Jesus gave His life freely so that we may live.  There is no greater love than that.Romans 5:8-11

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

God shows us His love by His grace and mercy.  None of us deserve the love He gives nor His forgiveness, but He gives it anyway.  Though we fall short, though we disobey and reject Him, He offers the gift of salvation freely.  He will never leave us.  He will always provide our needs.  He will always love us.

Romans 8:35-39

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;

We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Nothing will keep us from God’s love.  When we believe in Jesus Christ with all our heart, His Spirit lives in us.  He guides us and gives us His love, not only the love He has for us, but that we may love others.  That is how we know His love abides in us, by our love, and with this love we have no reason to fear or worry.  Thank God for that!

1 John 4:10-19

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.
